Welcome to Turnbull Charolais, where we breed and sell high-quality purebred Charolais bulls.
Who Are We?

The Homestead
In 1898, the Stuckey family homesteaded on a small piece of land southeast of Pincher Creek. This location served as a "halfway point", with a wagon trail connecting the grain elevator in Brocket out to Twin Butte. There is an old barn there that people would stop and put their horses.
An Introduction to Charolais
Back in the early 1960's, Jim Opperman bought his first set of Charolais cattle while living in Twin Butte. His daughter, Carol-Ann would later marry Rodney Turnbull, nephew of Fred Stuckey. It was soon after this that Jim, Rodney, and Fred would start to work together and grow the Charolais in their herd here in Pincher Creek.
While Rodney's interests were more in the farming aspects of the ranch, he maintained a cattle herd with his Father-in-law, which would eventually peak the interest of his own son, Curtis Turnbull.

Taking it to the Next Level
In 1998, Curtis married Nanette and they both began taking over the operation. This is when the Turnbull Legacy started to blossom.
Curtis had already began his own herd of Charolais cattle in high school, and that number only went up from that point fourth. Year after year, Curt and Nanette would take bulls into town for the annual High Country Bull Sale, just as Jim and Rodney would do.
Constantly refining genetics, ensuring only the best cows stayed on the farm, while purchasing herd bulls with a fine eye, the herd grew more specialized.
Now, with over 250 registered females, the Turnbull Charolais leaves a mark in the breed, and a reputation to uphold...
The Legacy Continues
Along the way, Curtis and Nanette have had their 3 kids learning the operation and helping it grow.
The oldest child is Kimberly Turnbull. Kim participated in the 4-H Pincher Creek Silver Reins Light Horse club, where she learned many skills and developed her knowledge of the agricultural world. She competed in rodeo jackpots with her grey, Lena. Now graduated from college with a Therapy Assistant diploma, she plans to work both on the ranch with some cattle of her own, and in a hospital setting helping others.
The middle child, Kelly Turnbull, also participated in 4-H growing up which led to her being apart of riding in rodeo grand entries with her sister. Kelly has graduated high school and decided she wants to stay home and continue to help on the Ranch. She is also beginning to start her own business on the side, with beauty esthetics.
Dyllan is the youngest, still in high school but with a love for farming stronger than most, he enjoys helping on the ranch and has been driving the equipment since before he could even reach the pedals! Dyl wants to continue helping farm while also potentially taking his interest in mechanics to the next level once out of high school.
